Happy Holidays from the BLE

With Christmas and New Year around the corner, we wish our BLE family happy holidays full of food, music, and rejoicing! Καλά Χριστούγεννα και Ευτυχισμένη η Καινούργια Χρονιά 2023!

It’s hard to believe that over a month has passed since An Indelible Memory: Commemorating the Greeks of Asia Minor. Thank you to everyone who volunteered, attended, presented at, and sponsored the event. Check out photos from the event on our Facebook page. It was incredibly meaningful to all of us to commemorate the 1922 catastrophe in Smyrna while also experiencing the music, dancing, traditional clothing and history of the Greeks in the region.

Last week, we held our first in-person General Assembly since the pandemic began. We’re excited to start planning programs for 2023 with our new board members: Konstantina Choros, Giannis Daskalis, Dawn Georgiadis, Magdalena Gyftopoulos, Konstantinos Kaplanis, Daphne Kaxiras, Antigoni Konstantinidou, Kosmas Kosmas, Georgios Kyriazidis, Andrea Messina, Irene Savas, Ilyana Sawka, and Matoulla (Sandy) Theodorou. Learn more about our areas of focus here, and stay tuned for more ways to get involved!

In the meantime, we hope to see you at an upcoming Greek dance practice or as a valued volunteer in 2023. Every Wednesday night, we gather to learn and practice traditional dances, appreciate the rich musical traditions of the Hellenic world, and enjoy conversation and community. You can read more about our dance offerings here. Our dance troupe is also available for bookings in 2023. If you are interested in having us perform at any public or private event, festival, or gathering, we encourage you to learn more about what we offer and get in touch.

Again, happy holidays to you and yours!
